Also known as the Gundam, the RX-78-2 is the original and ancestor of all following designs. Originally piloted by Amuro Ray during the One Year War, this MG kit recreates the anime aesthetics from the original Gundam series while improving on the proportions and inner frame when compared with the first MG RX-78-2.

The inner frame has pre-molded joint segments reminiscent of later RG kits alongside a functioning Core Block System so both the RX-78-2 and the Core Fighter can be split.
