Gundam Color is the official Mr. Hobby paint line developed in collaboration with Bandai, built around one very specific purpose: matching the color codes referenced in your Gunpla kit's instruction manual. That color guide in the back of the manual — the one that tells you which shade goes on which part of your mobile suit — points directly to these UG codes. No color mixing, no online reference hunting, no approximation. Open the right bottle and you have the right color.

The range has been renewed with an improved formula that brings brighter color development, stronger hiding power over the base plastic, and a more durable coating film. Each bottle is 10ml of lacquer-based paint with a semi-gloss finish. That semi-gloss sits right where most gunpla model kit builds want to land before a final topcoat — from there, a flat coat takes it matte, a gloss coat takes it up for display or metallic work.

Also available in water-based formula. If you prefer to paint without solvents, the same official Gundam Color range is available as Aqueous Gundam Color — same Bandai-accurate colors, odorless, solvent-free. The two lines use different formulas and cannot be mixed with each other.

• Brush Painting — thin with Mr. Color Thinner (T101–T104) at a 1:1 ratio. Two thin coats will always beat one heavy pass.
• Airbrushing — use Mr. Color Thinner (T101–T104) for standard work, Mr. Color Leveling Thinner (T106–T108) if you want a slower dry for better leveling on large surfaces, or Mr. Color Rapid Thinner (T117) for a faster cure between coats. All at a 1:2 ratio with a 0.3mm needle or larger at around 15 PSI.

Wait for full cure before applying a topcoat, panel line wash, or decals. Lacquer cures fast on the surface but needs the full 24 hours for the film underneath to harden properly — rushing it risks lifting or wrinkling.

Layering: lacquer base means enamel and water-based panel line washes sit on top cleanly without lifting the paint underneath. Never apply Mr. Color lacquer over water-based paint.
