The YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie is the next-generation variable fighter first seen at the climax of Macross Frontier, developed from the VF-25 Messiah with fold quartz power, fold wave capability, and the raw output to match. In Macross Delta: Absolute LIVE!!!!!! (2021), none other than Maximilian Jenius, the legendary ace from the original 1982 SDF Macross, takes one up in his signature blue-and-white colors. It's a direct callback to the franchise's roots and a reminder that Max, four decades in, still has it.

This is the third release in Bandai's HG Macross line, landing in October 2023 after the YF-19 and the Alto YF-29. The "Full Set Pack" name is the whole point: it bundles the base kit with the Super Parts armored add-on, so you can display it stripped-down or fully loaded for the climactic fight. The Shortcut Change system carries over, swapping key parts between Battroid, Gerwalk, and Fighter instead of cramming a full transformation into every joint.

The Super Parts attach and detach at will, so you can run Max's Durandal light or heavy depending on the scene. Deployable missile hatches on shoulders and legs, fold wave projectors that open up, and a telescopic booster nozzle gimmick cover the signature movie poses. Pull-out shoulder joints and three-axis chest articulation give you the range to actually use them. Accessories include the gun pod, shield, storable knife, landing gear, and a display base for aerial modes. Sticker reliance is typical HG territory; third-party waterslides clean up the smaller markings nicely.
