Single-edged nippers for plastic models changed the way builders work. The idea is simple: one side of the blade cuts, the other acts as a flat backing board, and together they produce a much cleaner gate surface than a standard double-edged nipper. Less whitening, less cleanup, less time with a file afterwards. The problem is that the best single-edge nippers in the GodHand range, things like the Ultimate Nipper 5.0, use blades ground so thin that they demand real care and technique to avoid chipping. The GH-PNS-135 sits one step back from that. It gives you the same single-edge cutting principle with a thicker, more forgiving stainless steel blade designed specifically for builders who are making the jump from double-edge for the first time.
The stainless steel construction is a practical advantage that goes beyond just durability. It is rust-resistant, which matters if you build in a humid environment or tend to leave tools out between sessions. The blade hardness sits at HRC49-55, noticeably lower than the Ultimate Nipper's specially hardened tool steel, but that is intentional. A slightly softer blade flexes rather than chips when it meets resistance, which gives beginners a much better experience while they are still developing their cutting technique. Cutting capacity runs up to Ø3mm gate diameter, and crucially it handles clear runners too, something that ultra-thin blades typically cannot manage safely. The elastomer grip is comfortable in the hand for extended sessions and the lock function keeps the blades safely closed when the nipper is not in use.
If you are new to single-blade nippers, there are more beginner-friendly options to start with before working your way up to this level. The GH-PNS-135 sits right at that entry point, giving you clean single-edge results with a tool that is genuinely forgiving to learn on. At 140mm total length it is slightly longer than the Ultimate Nipper, which some builders find easier to control when they are still getting used to the technique.
How to Use
Always make two cuts per gate: the first a few millimetres from the part to release runner tension, the second flush to remove the remaining nub. Position the flat side of the blade facing the part surface so the single-edge structure does its job properly. Use only the pressure needed, the blade will do the work without forcing. The GH-PNS-135 can handle clear runners at up to Ø3mm but take it steady on those as clear plastic is more brittle than standard coloured plastic. After each session wipe the blade down with a dry cloth. Stainless steel is rust-resistant but not rust-proof, so a light wipe keeps it in good shape long term.
