GUNPRIMER - Raser Origin V1.5 Renew 2021

SKU:
GP-R-GR-P1
The Raser Origin is Gunprimer's Super-Nano tempered glass file and the starting point for clean, scratch-free gate mark removal. Unlike regular glass files, the handcrafted rounded edges protect the surrounding plastic even if your sanding angle drifts. It cuts aggressively but leaves the surface smooth and ready for the Balancer, skipping several intermediate sanding steps entirely. Comes with a reusable storage case. Plastic use only.

Every builder knows the frustration of a nub mark that just won't clean up properly. You clip, you file, you sand, and somewhere in that process you either leave a white stress mark or accidentally scuff the surrounding plastic. The Raser Origin was built to fix that. It's a tempered glass file that uses Gunprimer's proprietary Super-Nano technology to remove gate marks cleanly and aggressively without scratching the surface around them. It's the first tool in the Gunprimer finishing workflow, and honestly the one that changes how the whole process feels.

What makes it different from a regular glass file:

The short answer is the edges. Regular glass files come with machine-finished edges that are sharp enough to dig into the plastic if your sanding angle shifts even slightly. That's how you end up with accidental gouges on a part you were trying to fix. The Raser's edges are handcrafted and rounded, so even if your angle drifts during use, the surrounding surface stays intact. It's a small detail that makes a big practical difference, especially on smaller parts or tight areas where precise control is harder.

The surface itself also works differently. Standard files at similar cutting strength leave scratches behind that require several follow-up sanding steps to remove. The Raser's Super-Nano abrasive surface removes the gate mark and leaves the area smooth and slightly glossy rather than torn up, which means you can go straight into the Balancer without running through intermediate grits first. That's where the real time saving happens.

How to use it:

Run the Raser over the gate mark using light, consistent strokes. You don't need to press hard. The tool does the cutting work on its own, and applying too much pressure doesn't speed things up. Once the mark is flush with the surrounding surface and the area looks smooth and even, you're done with this step. From here you can move straight to the Balancer Gray to refine the surface further, or go directly to the Balancer White if you want to adjust the gloss level. For a complete three-step finish, the full Gate Remover Set pairs the Raser Origin with the Balancer White and the Recover cloth.

One specific note for clear parts: on transparent plastic the Raser alone is usually enough. The slightly glossy result it leaves blends naturally into clear plastic without needing further polishing steps.

Maintenance and care:

Plastic dust builds up on the surface during use and will reduce performance if you let it accumulate. Clean it after each session by wiping with masking tape or rinsing with water. If you wash it with water, make sure it's fully dry before using it again. The tempered glass is durable under normal use but will crack from drops or hard impacts, so always store it in the included case when it's not on the workbench. Plastic only, never use on metal parts.
