Hey everyone, welcome to our new home!

Yes, things look different. And yes, we think that deserves a proper post.

Mecha Universe 2.0 has been running since 2021. When we built it, it did the job, but five years and a lot of patches later it was clear the foundation wasn't going to hold much longer. So here we are.

More than just a better website

We didn't just want to fix what was broken. The old site was functional, but also bland, rigid, what you'd expect from any generic webshop. That's not what we want to be.

This hobby has a real learning curve. Beginners spend hours jumping between websites trying to figure out what paint does what, which tools they actually need, why there are seventeen types of thinner. Every product feels like it needs a manual. We want to change that.

The goal with 3.0 is to build something genuinely useful, a site where the products, the blog, and the pages themselves give you the context you need without having to open four tabs and cross-reference half the internet. Everything we know goes in: into the product listings, into the blog (yes, we have one now), into the category and guide pages.

It's a long process and we're balancing it against the catalogue upload, which is its own never-ending job. But anything we consider critical, we'll make sure gets done.

"Where are all the products?"

Right now you're looking at about 33% of the catalogue. We're doing this the slow, manual way, one product at a time, and on purpose.

We didn't want to just dump everything over from 2.0 as-is. Every listing is being renamed properly, recategorized, and loaded with better attributes and higher resolution photos. It's a slog, but the end result is a catalogue that actually makes sense to browse and search.

It'll take longer than we'd like. But it'll be better when it's done.

Not everything is live yet

We're doing a soft launch, meaning we're activating features gradually as we confirm they're working correctly. The longer 3.0 is live, the more complete it gets. There's a queue of features waiting to move from development to production and we'll be rolling them out as we go. We haven't announced everything yet, we want to keep a few surprises.

And yes (T_Tuuu 😅), we've checked everything multiple times and there will still be bugs. That's just how it goes. If you spot something, let us know and we'll get on it.

Your account and points

Here's the not so great news: due to data protection regulations we can't transfer your account information from 2.0 to 3.0. That means purchase history, wishlists and stock alerts won't carry over. Sorry about that one.

The good news is that your MLPS store credit and MU-Type points are safe. We're transferring those manually, and here's how to make it happen:

Step 1. Create a new account on 3.0 using the same email address and shipping details as your old account.

Step 2. Open a support ticket at https://www.mechauniverse.com/help-me-mu-special-programs and request the transfer of your MU-Type points or MLPS store credit. We'll cross-check your new account against the old one and once everything matches, we'll move your points over.
