The RX-93 Nu Gundam is the Mobile Suit that Amuro Ray helped design himself, built by Anaheim Electronics for the Londo Bell task force in Universal Century 0093. What made it different from anything before was the psycho-frame technology secretly provided by Neo Zeon, woven directly into the cockpit structure to enhance the Newtype pilot's responsiveness to a degree no standard system could match. It was also the first Gundam-type unit to carry a fully operational psycommu system into actual combat, most visibly in the form of six Fin Funnels mounted on its backpack, each one capable of independent attack and defense. The Nu Gundam's final moment in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack has become one of the most talked-about scenes in the entire franchise. Mechanical design is by Yutaka Izubuchi.
This kit marks the Nu Gundam's debut in the Perfect Grade Unleashed line and is the first plastic model of the suit at 1/60 scale. Released in early 2026 to celebrate Gunpla's 45th anniversary, it brings Bandai's Ultimate Unit System to the Nu Gundam for the first time. That system, introduced with the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 in 2020, asks you to build a complete internal skeleton section by section before any outer armor goes on. The frame is molded in multiple metallic colors straight from the runner, so even mid-build you get that layered mechanical look. The cockpit hatch opens to reveal the inner block, and the completed kit can be displayed in full open-hatch mode.
Standing at roughly 38cm and up to 56cm with Fin Funnels fully deployed, this bandai gunpla kit rewards the time you put into it. The six Fin Funnels are each individually poseable between standby and attack configuration, and a dedicated support stand holds the entire deployed setup securely. Every articulation point has been rethought at this scale: the shoulders split and slide, the waist coordinates with skirt armor movement, the upper arms and elbows roll and rotate, and the wrists turn. The beam rifle has a deployable carry handle and sliding fore-end parts. The shield mounts on either forearm and includes a built-in beam cannon and four missiles. The New Hyper Bazooka has a sliding barrel, rotating grip, detachable magazine, and an original support arm designed for this release. Color separation is thorough throughout, with multi-layered plastic stickers for light-emitting areas and an etching parts sheet for fine detail. LED lighting is supported via the separately sold PG Unleashed Nu Gundam LED Unit Set. Plan your build sessions: with over 2,000 parts, this is a long but genuinely rewarding gunpla model kit.
